CGA adds Mandarin as a subject into the curriculum for all students throughout the school from Nursery all the way through to graduation and helps students attain a strong command of the Chinese language. CGA strives to unite the best elements of Eastern and Western traditions and practices. Learning Chinese language and culture in CGA helps to open doors for our students to learn about the Eastern world, fusing cross-cultural thinking and open-mindedness. Students learn to read, write and speak fluently in Mandarin/Putonghua through curricula tailored for both native and non-native speakers.

Chinese as a Second Language
Chinese as a Second Language not only inspires students' interest in learning Chinese, but also allows them to be exposed to and understand Chinese traditional and modern cultures. This programme focuses on training students' ability to understand preliminary Chinese, for example conversation with others in Chinese, recognising Chinese characters (including pronunciation, strokes, explanation, and usage), mastery of verbal vocabulary, and reading Chinese articles and books at a general level.

Chinese Cultural Studies
Mandarin teachers are also expected to enhance the language programme by implementing aspects of Chinese culture into their lessons. In addition to building students' basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, students are also taught to have awareness and understanding of Chinese culture. The learning topics integrate subjects from history and geography to visual art, performing arts and music. CGA organizes regular cultural field trips, traditional festival celebrations and events, and Chinese culture workshops for the students throughout the school year.

Chinese Calligraphy
Chinese Calligraphy or shufa, is not only the art of writing Chinese characters, but it is also one of the highest and unique forms of Chinese art. It serves the purpose of conveying thoughts while also highlighting the abstract beauty of characters. At CGA, students will be taught proper brush techniques, correct strokes, stroke order, character structure, balance, and rhythm, which are all essential in Chinese calligraphy.

Chinese Painting
Chinese Painting is an art form where CGA students will learn proper brush techniques to paint Chinese nature themes using either black ink or water colours.

Outdoor Cultural Trips
At CGA we believe in the value of experience as a teacher. For these reasons, each year we are able to expose students to experiences, places, and activities that they may not normally have otherwise. Through these are educational trips, students will come to better appreciate China’s culture and history.

Traditional Festival Celebrations
At CGA we organize traditional festival celebrations, Chinese New Year, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Festival Mid-Autumn Festival etc., for the students throughout the school year.

Chinese Martial Arts
Martial Arts masters are invited to teach basic martial arts (Kung Fu) techniques to improve strength, flexibility, and stamina. Students will also have an opportunity to experience the Lion Dance.
